Floyd Bruce, 20, is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday, May 31 after pleading guilty to felony charges of first-degree robbery, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon last year.
According to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. shortly after 5:15 on Saturday, July 16, 2016, Bruce produced a handgun and shot several rounds into a crowd of people on Willow Street, a block from Columbus Park. The intended victim - an 18-year-old man in the crowd - was grazed on the ankle, while another struck the girl in her leg while she walked with her mother.
Bruce proceeded to flee the scene, while his victim was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated and released after several days.
Less than two weeks later, Bruce and Lamont McLean - who is also facing criminal charges - were on Palisades Avenue, armed with handguns, when they approached two men in a parked car. Scarpino said that they proceeded to rob both men at gunpoint and then ran from the scene.
The following day, both Bruce and McLean were arrested by police in Yonkers. At the time of Bruce’s arrest, police reported that they recovered a .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun, which was matched to the July 16 shooting following a ballistic test on the weapon.
Bruce faces a maximum of 25 years in prison. McLean pleaded not guilty to three felony counts of robbery.
